The 104-year-old school was inundated with floodwaters up to 1.5m high during the heavy rains that affected much of the Klang Valley, causing severe damage.
During the gotong-royong last Saturday, some 150 volunteers including former students, parents, those from the Fire and Rescue Department, Malaysian Scouts Association and Association of Peninsular Malaysia Students as well as Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia students took part in the clean-up efforts.
SMK Maxwell PTA chairman Dr Norasrima Ishak said it was important to get the school ready before some 600 students resumed classes, especially those sitting for the SPM and STPM examinations.“There is still a lot more to be done after the clean-up.”
