THE Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry said after the first 10 days of Ramadan, no traders were found selling whole chicken above the set ceiling price of RM9.40 per kg. Its minister Salahuddin Ayub said to ensure traders continue to comply with the ceiling price, his ministry, the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry, and industry players will be monitoring the market.
“Even though there are rumours that the supply of chicken is not enough, my ministry will always monitor and conduct a three-party engagement session with the Agriculture and Food Security Ministry and industry players thrice a week to ensure the ceiling price is complied with,” he said during a press conference after a bubur lambuk and Rahmah voucher distribution at Econsave Yong Peng Supermarket in Batu Pahat today.
Salahuddin said during the 10-day period, some supermarkets including Econsave Supermarket were selling whole chicken below the ceiling price. – Bernama, April 2, 2023.
