In her 60s, the former actress and singer showed she still has what it takes during the event at Petronas Philharmonic Hall in Kuala Lumpur.Chelsia, the foundation’s chairman, also performed The Impossible Dream from Man of La Mancha, Sejahtera Malaysia and the Korean folk song Arirang with South Korean opera singers as well as classical musicians who were in town to perform a gala concert called “Operrisima” and the opera La Traviata.
It played to an almost full house that included Chelsia’s husband Lion Group chairman Tan Sri William Cheng, other family members, friends and students. Throughout the night, the South Korean opera singers and classical musicians as well as the MPO delighted the audience with popular opera numbers such as Je veux vivre from Romeo and Juliet, Papagena from The Magic Flute and Nessun dorma from Turandot.
“Leading the Way” is the first collaboration between Mov and the MPO following a memorandum of understanding in 2022 to provide a platform for artistic endeavours and to support the MPO’s corporate social responsibility outreach programmes while promoting the understanding of music.
