The Labuan Chinese chamber of commerce regrets that none of the six candidates vying for the Labuan parliamentary seat spoke of restoring the duty-free cigarette sales on the island even though the issue is significant for boosting the island’s economy.

Its Chairman Datuk Wong Kii Yii said the Pakatan Prime Minister choice if it wins, Datuk Seri Anwar, is Labuan’s only hope. “The Chamber as a non-political NGO will support any party that forms the government, but cannot ignore issues that affect the local economy and the duty-free status is one of them,” he said.
