TAPAH: Three people had the shock of their lives after the car they were in fell into a river near Batu 12 Jalan Tapah-Cameron Highlands here.

Tapah OCPD Superintendent Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said the driver, Mohd Sharaffi Hashim, 51, had inadvertently driven the car into the river during the 11.30pm incident on Thursday .

"The driver, from Manik Urai, Kelantan, was not familiar with the road as it was also dark while the lines in the middle and side of the road could not be seen," he said, adding that the paint on the bridge had also worn out. "They were on their way back to Kelantan after attending a civil defence course at the Rural Development Institute in Bangi.
