As part of their world tour, the K-pop group Blackpink recently performed in Macau, China and soon after the show, the girl group expressed their gratitude through their official Weibo account, a Chinese social media platform.

Fans would usually respond with how much they enjoyed the show but in this case, the reply was quite different and in fact, the fans in Macau weren’t too pleased with Blackpink’s gratitude. And no, it had nothing to do with Blackpink’s performance in the country but it was merely a word that prompted the netizens to “school” Blackpink on their social media.

According to Countrymeters, Macau, the region under the Special Administrative of China is populated by 95% Chinese, and the netizens made sure that Blackpink is caught up with that. “Stop trying to be funny. What’s Macanese? Is it so hard to type Chinese that you have to create a new term?”“Macau is not our ‘surname’. Don’t you know how to spell Chinese?”

Another netizen reminded Blackpink and told them the list of countries that belong to China, and asked them to “stop doing tricks.”Months ago, Blackpink performed in Bukit Jalil, KL.
