Budget 2024: Sabah and S'wak allocated RM12.4bil for development

PETALING JAYA: The Federal Government has allocated RM12.4bil to Sabah and Sarawak as part of its development package for 2024, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

Sabah will get RM6.6bil, up from RM6.5bil, whereas Sarawak will receive RM5.8bil instead of RM2.6bil, added the Prime Minister while tabling Budget 2024 in Parliament on Friday . He said that Sabah and Sarawak state governments would also be given the power to implement projects below RM50mil, adding that the two Borneo states would receive a special interim allocation of RM300mil each.

The Federal Government would also help the Sabah state government by subsidising Sabah Electricity Sdn Bhd until the SESB's transformation plan is successfully implemented by 2030. Anwar said that the Federal Government would support the implementation of hybrid solar energy and the expansion of a transmission line network in Sabah to help ensure stability and reduce disruption of the electricity supply in the state.
