PONTIAN: The Rural Development Ministry will install some 60,000 streetlights nationwide to brighten roads in rural areas.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Rina Harun said that the streetlights will be installed over the next two years.

"The ministry was given an allocation for about 10,000 street lights in rural areas but an additional 35,000 were later given by Prime Minister . "The Energy, Science, Technology, Environment and Climate Change Ministry had also recently agreed to give another 15,000 LED lights to the ministry," she said.

She said this when met after visiting Tanjung Piai voters at Warung Soto Seri Bunian here on Wednesday . On the election campaign, she said that Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia's women's wing, Srikandi, would visit as many voters as they can within the campaign period."We will focus on going from house to house over the next nine days to meet with voters," said Rina, who is also Srikandi chief.

They want to talk about brighter rural roads and yet after so many decades, the main road from Jln Ipoh roundabout to Kepong is like 'shit' and nothing has been done yet. Is it b'cos the majority living in these areas are Chinese?

It's takes a MP to pass away, go into a by-election BEFORE installing streetlights ? Malaysia's road ahead is dark

i'd love it if we switched to renewable energy such as solar-powered panels and move away from fossil fuel burning to light our streets, homes & country
