Brexit’s Big Ben dispute getting pricey

Officials say getting the iconic Big Ben clock tower up and running again before the January 31 Brexit deadline, which hardliners are pushing for, will cost up to £500,000. – EPA pic, January 17, 2020.

BRITAIN’S bewildering battle to get Big Ben to bong for Brexit is becoming brutal – and big-budget to boot as public cash donations flooded today for a celebratory peal. Big Ben has been mostly silent since restoration work on parliament’s Elizabeth Tower, which houses the clock, began in 2017.
