Bond of brothers goes beyond tragedy

TAPAH: L/Kpl Ahmad Azza Fitri Azhar remains resolute in his commitment to serve in the police force despite the tragic loss of his younger brother and “good buddy” in the attack on the Ulu Tiram police station on Friday morning. L/Kpl Ahmad Azza Fitri, 24, who has been stationed at the Pulau Gaya police station in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, for three years, said losing his brother, Konst Ahmad Azza Fahmi Azhar, 22, has made him even more determined to defend the country’s security.“We are the only sons among eight siblings. It was my intention to become a policeman and he followed in my footsteps,” he said when met at his home at Kampung Poh Tambahan here yesterday, Bernama reported.

Reflecting on his bond with his brother, L/Kpl Ahmad Azza Fitri said, “He was always by my side since our childhood and we shared the same circle of friends. Now, I no longer have a companion to engage in activities with.”“We were able to meet during Ramadan and had planned to return to our village next month. He always kept in touch with our family members and would tell us of fun tales while on duty in our family WhatsApp chat group.

“The last message he sent in the chat group was to wish our father a Happy Teachers Day,” he said, adding that their father is a teacher at SK Felda Sungai Kelah in Sungkai.
