Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department chief, Arrahman Chik said the body of the victim, identified as Nekson Dana Rainmond, was found at 8.45am Sunday ."The body was retrieved from the river and sent to the longhouse for identification by family members," said Arrahman, adding the matter was referred to the Kanowit police for further action.On April 23, the boy was taking a bath with his grandparents in the river when at about 4.
The grandparents ran back to the longhouse to seek help and an intense search was conducted from 5pm to 7pm by longhouse folks using three longboats, but they failed to find the boy. Arrahman said the boy's parents and the longhouse chief initially did not seek the help of the Fire and Rescue Department and police as they feared they would be in violation of the movement control order.
However, following a discussion with the longhouse chief, a search and rescue operation was mounted to look for the boy.
