Bersih has proposed that ministers and public officials who are party leaders take annual leave if they want to campaign in an election during working hours.
This was among its proposals in response to Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who said the Election Commission's campaigning restrictions on ministers while they are on duty put the government at a disadvantage against the"jobless" opposition.That the only government assets a minister is allowed to use during campaigning are their official vehicle, driver, and a reasonable number of security personnel.
That the prime minister is allowed to use government aircraft if the party or coalition pays a first-class fare for the premier and their entourage.The EC exercise its constitutional powers to produce a comprehensive code of conduct that covers the function of governments and caretaker governments during an election.

We concur with Bersih on this. The bounden duties of ministers are to serve the rakyat 100% of their time, which we pay for. Spending their working hours campaigning to get themselves elected or keep their party in power is irresponsible to say the least.
Blame it on EC and Bersih... New Malaysia... Shout some more lah EC and bersih.your time is up
They are considered as civil servant as they receive salaries from the government thereby they must apply for leave or considered absent from duty is prejudice to their disciplinary duty !!!

Bersih and Election Commission are two sides of the same useless coin. They are more concerned about defending the rights of the Opposition parties more than defending the rights of the voters.
BERSIH is too idealistic forgetting that this is not a developed country. Mahathir is right. BERSIH is partially the reason for the 3 defeats as PH cannot canvas for votes due to restriction. If they take leave who will run the country?
Personally, I feel this is being unnecessarily picky, noting that the Ministers work BEYOND hours. As for vehicle, most personnel In the corporate sector who're given company cars are allowed to use their vehicle regardless of company or personal duty.
