Bernas will ensure that there is food security in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, the government says. KUALA LUMPUR: The government has decided to allow Padiberas Nasional Bhd to remain the single gatekeeper to manage the country’s rice supply, Agriculture and Food Industry Minister Ronald Kiandee.
He told the Dewan Rakyat that discussions were ongoing on the terms of the new contract and the number of years it would be extended. “This is to ensure that there is food security in the country in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic. Covid-19 will affect the global food chain,” he said.
