LANGKAH kerajaan mengehadkan yuran pendaftaran masuk ke universiti awam tidak melebihi RM1,500 bermula Januari 2024 akan memberi peluang lebih luas kepada pelajar tidak berkemampuan untuk memulakan pengajian.
Universiti Putra Malaysia tidak mempunyai masalah menyambut hasrat kerajaan untuk memperkasakan kebajikan pelajar berikutan Bahagian Hal Ehwal Pelajar telah melaksanakan langkah untuk pelajar kurang berkemampuan selama ini. UPM turut aktif mengumpul dan menyalurkan sumbangan serta derma daripada pihak luar atau penaja kepada golongan B40 yang layak.
Kita setuju peraturan pembayaran oleh universiti harus mengambil kira kebajikan pelajar seperti yang dihasratkan oleh Perdana Menteri dalam Belanjawan 2024: Reformasi Ekonomi, Memperkasa Rakyat.
