: Pengasas Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah dan bekas Timbalan Ketua Menteri Sabah, Tan Sri Joseph Kurup meninggal dunia di Institut Jantung Negara di Kuala Lumpur, malam ini.Perkara itu disahkan pegawai kepada anaknya Datuk Arthur Joseph Kurup yang juga Presiden PBRS dan Timbalan Menteri Pertanian dan Keterjaminan Makanan.
Bekas Ahli Parlimen Pensiangan itu pernah memegang beberapa jawatan penting antaranya Menteri di Jabatan Perdana Menteri dan bersara daripada politik tahun lepas selepas memegang jawatan Presiden PBRS sejak penubuhan parti itu pada 1994. Arthur, yang juga Timbalan Presiden menggantikan ayahnya sebagai Presiden PBRS pada Januari tahun lepas.Sementara itu Arthur dalam kenyataan ringkas malam ini meluahkan kesedihan atas kehilangan bapanya yang tersayang dan menyayangi pemimpin veteran itu sepenuh hatinya.
