“Five years ago, a US$3 trillion target was set for the global tourism industry. It has not materialised due to Covid-19. But once the situation changes, we expect it will pick up fast and aircrafts will be fully utilised again.
“The set up of the centre is timely. We have a strategic location with proximity to China, Kalimantan and others in the region,” he told reporters after visiting the aerospace training centre run by KKIP Aerospace Sdn Bhd yesterday. A subsidiary of state-owned KKIP Sdn Bhd, it will see the first intake in September for the aircraft maintenance technician programme.
Deputy Chief Minister cum state Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Wilfred Madius Tangau said it was the first centre in Malaysia with dual approval from Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia and the European Aviation Safety Agency Part 147 to conduct that particular training programme.
