MADRID: England right-back Kieran Trippier has signed for Atletico Madrid from Tottenham Hotspur, the two clubs said on Wednesday.
Trippier played a leading role in England’s run to the last four of the 2018 World Cup, scoring from a free kick in their 2-1 semi-final defeat by Croatia. “With this signing, we add to our team a fantastic and experienced player who comes to us from the Champions League runners-up,” Atletico said in a statement on their website.
“Because of all this, we welcome Trippier to the Atleti Family and wish him the best of luck at his new home.”
