Kerajaan negeri ambil langkah drastik bagi mengekang penularan pandemik itu termasuk meminta pihak berkuasa melakukan pengasingan antara tahanan asing dengan tempatan. FMTNews Covid19 Tahanan LahadDatu Tawau

Ketua Menteri Shafie Apdal berkata beliau sendiri mengadakan mesyuarat tergempar dan memaklumkan pesuruhjaya polis Sabah untuk melakukan pengasingan terutama apabila membabitkan tahanan dari Filipina dan Indonesia yang mungkin mempunyai risiko jangkitan Covid-19.

“Saya maklumkan kepada ketua polis negeri supaya asingkan tahanan orang asing sama ada datang dari Filipina dan Indonesia yang kemungkinan mereka ini terjangkit … jadi bila masuk dalam penjara, mereka masuk dengan orang-orang tempatan. Setakat ini, kluster Benteng Lahad Datu merekodkan sejumlah 250 kes positif di Tawau dan 87 kes positif di Lahad Datu menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan kes positif Covid-19 bagi kluster itu adalah 337 orang.
