The Third Division Malaysian Infantry at Kem Terendak in Melaka said that a QRF successfully captured six illegal immigrants as well as a local man in Bandar Penawar, Johor.
"Based on information gathered that night, the QRF team, five men in total, hid among the captured illegal immigrants to get closer to the boat that was approaching the beach. "Two more Indonesians and the boat that was suspected to have been used to ferry illegal immigrants back to Indonesia were seized," the infantry said a statement Monday .
A total of seven men aged between 25 to 52 years old, including the local"tekong" , were captured. Seven mobile phones were also seized. "Information was also forwarded to the National Task Force operations room on the KD Sultan Ismail for further surveillance due to suspicions of another boat from Indonesia entering the country following the high tide," it said.
