Available from this Friday (February 3) in selected Asia Pacific countries, the MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max will be priced from US$1,999 Apple macbookpro laptops personaltech

The M2 Pro and M2 Max MacBook Pro are said to be able to render effects up to 6x faster than the fastest Intel-based MacBook Pro and perform colour grading up to 2x faster. This is based on a comparison with the previous-generation 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9-based 16-inch MacBook Pro systems with Radeon Pro 5600M graphics with 8GB HBM2, 64GB of RAM, and 8TB SSD.

The test shows that the battery life on the MacBook Pro can last up to 22 hours, the longest on any Mac. Battery life varies by use and configuration, of course. With up to 96GB of unified memory in the M2 Max, it could render scenes that require over 40GB of graphics memory on OTOY Octane X2022.1, while the PC-based system running OctaneRender 2022.1 could not.
