PETALING JAYA: PAS has branded the claim by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim that he was threatened by Western powers over criticisms of Israel following the war in Gaza as being “alarmist”. The Islamic party’s secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan said if such threats existed or had been made, then the prime minister should have summoned the respective ambassadors to issue a diplomatic note of protest.“We believe such alarmist claims were aimed at showcasing Anwar’s ‘greatness’ and ‘importance’, which have become a persistent feature of latter’s administration,”he said in a statement, adding that Anwar was struggling to win over support and the public’s trust.
