Katanya, beliau tahu mengenai keadaan tandas sekolah yang kebanyakan rosak dan kotor namun kemudahan asas itu kekal tidak terjaga seolah-olah dibiarkan oleh pihak bertanggungjawab sehingga ada murid tidak ke tandas sepanjang waktu persekolahan. “Sekarang saya kata bagaimana nak hantar anak kita ke sekolah tapi tandas pun tidak ada,” katanya ketika berucap merasmikan medan selera D’Anjung Selera Madani di Bandar Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur hari ini.

Anwar berkata, langkah itu menyebabkan ada ibu bapa ‘kelas atasan’ menghantar telegram kepadanya yang mempersoalkan tindakan itu kerana bagi mereka, anak-anak dihantar ke sekolah untuk belajar bukannya mencuci tandas.
