KUALA LUMPUR: The motion to annul the Emergency Ordinances in the Dewan Rakyat on Tuesday (Oct 12) has been deferred to the next meeting later this month.

This came after Minister in the Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar tabled a motion to carry forward several bills, including the motion to annul, to the next Dewan Rakyat meeting, slated to go on from Oct 25 to Dec 16, 2021.

The motion to annul, which was expected to be tabled by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, stated that it was in line with Article 150 of the Federal Constitution, which states that a proclamation of Emergency and any other ordinances declared under Article 150 must be tabled in both houses of Parliament.Meanwhile, apart from the Emergency Ordinances, Wan Junaidi also requested to bring several other Bills to the next Dewan Rakyat meeting later this month.

Among them were the Occupational Safety and Health Bill 2020, Independent Police Conduct Commission Bill, Malaysian Space Board Bill 2020 and the Wildlife Conservation Bill 2021.
