PONTIAN: Pakatan Harapan candidate Karmaine Sardini got annoyed when asked whether he would continue the plans and legacy of the late Datuk Dr Farid Md Rafik, who was the Tanjung Piai MP.

“Yes of course. There’s no need to ask again. When I’m elected, god-willing,” said Karmaine, who was visibly annoyed, on Saturday .

Redzuan, who was present with Karmaine during the interview, intervened and said Pakatan Harapan would definitely work together to ensure that all programmes and initiatives by Dr Farid would be continued.Karmaine, 66, had previously drawn flak after he remarked that palm oil smallholders living in villages should be grateful and not complain about the current palm oil price."If you want to eat vegetables, you can grow it yourselves. You only need to pay for fuel.

The Tanjung Piai polls on Nov 16 will be a six-cornered fight between Pakatan’s Karmaine, Barisan’s Datuk Seri Dr Wee Jeck Seng, Gerakan’s Wendy Subramaniam, Pan Malaysian Islamic Front ’s Badhrulhisham Abdul Aziz, and two independent candidates, Faridah Aryani Abdul Ghaffar and Ang Chuan Lock.
