'Today’s China is not only China’s China. It is Asia’s China and the world’s China,' says the president.

China will only be more open to the world, President Xi Jinping said on Wednesday, as he denounced as"stupid" those who believe in cultural superiority, in his first public address since trade tension with the United States spiked last week.

Xi was addressing a forum in Beijing organised by the propaganda ministry, called the Conference on Dialogue of Asian Civilisations. “Today’s China is not only China’s China. It is Asia’s China and the world’s China. China in the future will take on an even more open stance to embrace the world,” he added.

“The people of Asian countries hope to distance themselves from being closed, and hope that all countries will adhere to the spirit of openness and promote policy communication, connectivity and smooth trade.”China has been particularly upset by comments reported in the US media last month by a State Department official who said the United States was involved in “a fight with a really different civilisation” when it came to China.

Trump to meet Xi after defiant China slaps US with new tariffsWASHINGTON/BEIJING: U.S. President Donald Trump said on Monday he would meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping next month, as the trade war between the world's two largest economies intensified, sending shivers through global markets. China can live without the US, can US do the same? I doubted it... China import estimated USD2 trillion and that's WTO free for all. Why start a trade war unless WTO is not required. China should further identify his support base and absolutely run them into the ground. Good start with soy. Now get at their other agri businesses. Put his heartland out of business. Then c if he opens his big mouth after that.
