AMD Says Strix Point Zen5 Still On Schedule For 2024 Launch

AMD's CEO, Lisa Su, recently confirmed at the PC Innovation Summit in Beijing, China, that the company's next-gen Ryzen, codenamed Strix Point, was still on track for launch this year. This was in conjunction with an early preview of its Hawk Point Ryzen 8040U Series.

Dr. Su's announcement also means that, in addition to Strix Point, the next-generation Zen 5 series will be shipping out with RDNA3+, as well as a XDNA2 processing. The presence of the former marks the first time Ryzen CPUs will ship out with said cores.On a related note, RDNA3 and not the '+' version of the GPU architecture have already existed in the majority of current-gen processors, both in the mobile and desktop space.

Dr. Su also made it clear that RDNA3+ was meant to be an enhancement and not a replacement for its unreleased RDNA4 architecture. FOr that matter, the inclusion of XDNA 2 NPUs also means that consumers can expect more robust and improved Ryzen AI software suite, and as much as three times greater performance of the current generation XDNA NPU portfolio.
