KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 1 — After Malaysia’s chicken shortage a few months back, the chicken industry has stabilised thanks to several steps taken by the government, said Agriculture and Food Industries Minister Datuk Seri Ronald Kiandee.

“Among the steps we have taken are getting rid of APs and allowing the import from overseas, at the same time stop exporting chicken overseas. These steps taken by the government can be seen as a success and have stabilised the chicken industry in Malaysia,” he said in Parliament here. “We currently have an oversupply of chicken, which has now caused the prices of chicken in the market to be lower than that of the ceiling price,” he said.

it this were true, the price of chicken would be reduced. basic economics

Imported frozen chicken. We are not addressing the poultry industry. Just quick fix fire fighting. The cycle will come again.

Its not of the supply, it's the price issue that matters

Politaik kena main penternak la wey

And the price is still RM9.40 per kg. Fried chicken still cost RM5.00 per piece. Chicken rice still cost RM7.00 per plate. Nasi kandar with chicken+vege still cost RM9.00. So what are you trying to tell us?

Singapore won’t be buying it soon . Padan muka

I hope the oversupply chicken are of original size before they are slaughtered. You cant be paying a premium inflated price for a smaller piece of meat.

Like in the past, oversupply didn't translate into a cheaper price. Relatively, the new price just settled at lower the peak but is still higher than the last price before oversupply kicks in - a sticky price. Moreover, Malaysia is a net food importer for many years.

Suddenly oversupply!! What a miracle!! Ini chicken ke atau zombies fast grow!!

LET'S SEE IF PRICE WILL DROP

Siapa nak beli 😂😂

Wonders amongst wonders, right?

Its a mystery that from the 1st of July, everywhere you went to get fresh chickens, it was bountiful and most were weighing in at more than 2.5kgs and some were even touching 3kgs, when just a month prior to this date, there were limited supply or in some places, none at all!!!🤔
