Alia was one of 26 women who testified at the Women's Tribunal Malaysia late last month. She shared about how she’d been harassed and doxxed online for airing her views on the change in government back in 2020. Hurtful comments about her and threats were aimed at her just because she dared to speak openly of her views about the politics of the day.

“What I have experienced is not isolated or unique, in fact others like me have had similar experiences or worse. I felt it was important to share my experience, to start a conversation on how we can create a safer space for women on digital platforms and reach out to those who have experienced something similar,” says Alia adding that moving on from the abuse and harassment has been difficult.

“I think it was a great way to highlight the actual situation of women in this pandemic and how access to justice can be limiting especially during these difficult times.
