Universiti Malaya Centre For Addiction Sciences director Dr Rusdi Abd Rashid says that social media addiction can even lead to depression.

On the other hand, Dr Rusdi says people, especially youth, are at risk of mental depression when they compare themselves to their peers on social media. “They will want to seek more of this feeling and eventually, they will lose control of their social media activity leading to addiction.” “This chronic sense of dissatisfaction may also give a negative impact on their emotions leading to major depression,” he adds.

“Drugs like antidepressants and anti-anxiety medication are only used if the mental illness is very severe.”

Can you blame folks not meeting with people now? It's expensive (9 times out 10, there's gonna be eating and have you seen the cost of food?), probably not safe what with crime and such and of course the person you're meeting is sometimes late.

Bitter doesn't mean they're depressed. Maybe that's just the way the are. Irish and British are sarcastic folks but they're not depressed or what. It's just dry wits. Some of us aren't lala. I don't dig this survey. It's generalizing. Stereotype. Do better with your research.

But social media with a lot of bitter person doesn't solve your problem. Get some medical help or opinion, it helps.
