The concept of a digital twin consists of recreating, in virtual form, an existing infrastructure, whether it is a simple connected object, a more complex system or, as in this case, an entire city, in order to study and analyse its behaviours in a bid to optimise its performance. — AFP Relaxnews
The entire state of Singapore has been modelled in 3D, which reportedly makes it the world's largest digital twin. This feat was achieved by Singaporean startup Vizzio Technologies, which used thousands of satellite photos and, through the power of artificial intelligence, was able to reconstruct the entire city, block by block, street by street, with painstaking precision.
But Vizzio isn't stopping there; it intends to use all this data to create a virtual version of Singapore in the metaverse. The idea would be to be able to use this digital city, entirely recreated on a 1:1 scale, to develop new applications, whether in the realm of leisure or for setting up a professional business. It will also enable companies to market their services and products, as in"real life.
