86 individuals charged in several states for flouting MCO

They were also charged with failing to comply with the MCO by moving from one place to another within infected areas under Regulation 3 of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulations 2020 which provides for a fine of RM1,000 and a jail term of not more than six months, or both, upon conviction.

At the same court, seven men were fined RM1,000 and sentenced to Compulsory Attendance Order for three months for being in an infected area for no apparent reason during the MCO period which took effect from March 18. They were detained in several locations around Mergong, Simpang Empat, Kuala Kedah and Alor Setar town, between March 26 and 28.
