Another 15 per cent of cases were designated as severe, which meant that they suffered from pneumonia and needed oxygen supply, while another three per cent needed to be placed in the Intensive Care Unit as their hearts and kidneys could be affected, said Dr Suresh Kumar Chidambaram

“When a person is infected by Covid-19, there is a high possibility that he may not have been affected in any way .“They end up only looking at the walls.“If you don’t have a good data plan, you could be quite bored out of your skull,” he said to laughter from editors and senior journalists attending a briefing by the Health Ministry on Monday.

The criteria of people coming under this category, among other, include if they had a fever, cough, flu or an acute respiratory tract infection. On what constituted as “close contact” with a Covid-19 infected person, Dr Suresh said it was determined by the Health Ministry.
