Poorly written emails can create a bad impression, negatively affecting how an individual is viewed professionally. FMTNews FMTLifestyle

Email writing is an important aspect of business communication, regardless of one’s profession and position.

Here are six tips to improve email writing and etiquette so you’re sure of making the best impression. It is important to avoid sharing personal or sensitive information in an email. Moreover, having important discussions face-to-face prevents misunderstandings as an email can easily be misinterpreted.Subject lines are meant to summarise the email so the receiver can decide whether it is important to read it now or later. Important things to consider are:Using a call to action if it requires an immediate response, for example: “Meeting tomorrow afternoon. Please reply before 6pm”.A few extra moments and a little extra thought can help emails look much more professional.

Alternatively, put a few related points into a single email by using numbered paragraphs or bullet points to relay the message. The choice of words, capitalisation, punctuation, length and sentence structure can easily be misinterpreted without proper visual and auditory cues.
