3 roads around Penang remand prison area shut

The Penang remand prison lockdown will involve a total of 2,298 inmates, 390 prison staff and their families living in the seven blocks of staff quarters. – The Malaysian Insight file pic, October 14, 2020.

POLICE have closed three roads to prevent people from entering and exiting around the Penang remand prison and the prison staff quarters, following the enforcement of a 14-day enhanced movement-control order effective midnight tonight. Northeast district police chief Soffian Santong said the road closures involved Jalan Penjara, Jalan Lim Khoon Huat and Jalan Berek will begin at 12.01am until 11.59pm until October 27.
