BUTTERWORTH: A total of 27 individuals were slapped with a RM1,000 compound each after they were caught attempting to cross the border without permission.

North Seberang Prai OCPD Asst Comm Noorzainy Mohd Noor said 23 men and four women were caught in various places including the Butterworth KTM train station and at roadblocks on Monday ."They had no valid reasons nor police permission," he said on Tuesday .

ACP Noorzainy said five men who are not family members were slapped with compounds after they were caught riding in the same car, while two Myanmar nationals were caught at separate roadblocks without proper identification documents.
