15-fold increase in HFMD cases, says health DG

The majority of hand, foot and mouth disease cases occur in kindergartens, nurseries or preschools, says the health director-general. – EPA pic, May 17, 2022.

HAND, foot and mouth Disease cases in the country have increased by 15 times to 31,661 as of May 14, from only 2,121 cases in the same period last year, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah. He said 7,526 cases were recorded during the epidemiological week ending May 14 alone, an increase of 349% compared with the 1,676 cases the previous week.
