SMJK Sam Tet student Loo Zhi Hua, 14, is possibly the youngest Cantonese opera singer in the country. His interest in opera singing started at the age of five when he saw a performance during the Nine Emperor God Festival.
Two years ago, he joined a troupe and now performs small characters such as soldiers. The busy months for opera troupes are February, June, and September.
