NSTnation Up to 10,000 civil servants in Pahang have agreed to donate a portion of their salary to aid Malaysians whose livelihoods have been badly affected by the Covid19 pandemic, as well as the Movement Control Order MCO.

The pay cut, which will be implement next month, was agreed to following consultation with the civil servants’ unions and representatives, said Pahang state secretary Datuk Seri Dr Sallehuddin Ishak.

He said the civil servants’ decision to contribute to the Pahang Covid-19 fund was reached after they were made aware of the hardship faced by hawkers, food truck operators, taxi drivers and more after their livelihoods were badly hit by the virus, as well as the order restricting Malaysians’ movements.

Yesterday, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail launched the Pahang Covid-19 fund to help cushion the burden of those hit hard by the Covid-19 outbreak. Donations can be made by bank transfers or automated teller machines to Perbendaharaan Negeri Pahang's Bank Muamalat account number 06010002165711 under the subject TABUNGCOVID19PAHANG.Related stories
