14,317 vehicles were inspected and 1,058 or 3.7% of them were issued summonses.

RTD director Zulkarnain Yasin said it involved various offences including expired road tax, driving without valid licence and other technical offences.

“Based on the statistics recorded during the operation carried out last year,14,022 vehicles were inspected and 1,546 or 11% were issued summonses, compared to this year where 14,317 vehicles were inspected and 1,058 or 3.7% issued summonses. “There is a drop in the percentage of vehicles issued summonses. The awareness level among roadusers on legal compliance has increased,” he said at an event held in conjunction with the CNY 2020 Ops here.

He said the operation focused on seven major offences, namely beating traffic lights, overtaking on double lines, driving on the emergency lane, cutting queues, using mobile phones while driving, not using seat belts and not using helmets. — Bernama
