Marie McMahon has spoken out about emergency room conditions on the six year anniversary of the death of her beloved husband.

Sharing her husband's story, Ms McMahon said: "Tommy suffered from a rare condition and was susceptible to strokes and blood clots, and he took ill so he was taken my ambulance in there. He was on a trolley for approximately 36 hours."
She shared that her husband told her to go home, as he wanted to go home himself: "He told me he was going to go home, he was going to walk out of there." Recent announcements for improvements at UHL include the HSE submitting a planning application for a rapid build development of a new 16-bed ward and 24 hour GP and nursing service on site in the emergency department.Panel members expressed that the improvements in bed numbers are just a drop in the water compared to what needs to be done.
