The RTÉ stalwart passed away at Cork University Hospital following a short illness on Wednesday at the age of 73.
Over his years of broadcasting Alf presented shows on RTÉ One as well as a current affairs show in Cork, alongside working as an actor, director and documentary producer. “His warm, courteous and happy disposition towards life was truly infectious. My sympathies to his family and friends at this time.”
Lord Mayor of Cork Cllr Kieran McCarthy said: “RIP Alf, sincere condolences to family and friends; passionate about the arts, fun, very creative, funny, a proud Corkman, a great building communities advocate”.
