Tributes pour in as former RTE presenter Alf McCarthy dies aged 73

The broadcaster passed away aged 73 at Cork University Hospital on Wednesday following a short illness.

Lord Mayor of Cork, Cllr Kieran McCarthy told the Irish Independent that Alf was "always a great pleasure to chat to, a great performer and a dedicated building community man." Cork's 96FM arts presenter Elmarie Mawe took to X to say she was "deeply saddened" to hear of the death of the "one and only Alf McCarthy."
