Mícheál Ó Muircheartaigh has died aged 93

in 1949, in Irish, for the Railway Cup final and retired at the age of 80 after the 2010 All-Ireland football final, in which Cork beat Down.

A long-time resident of Kilcock in Co Kildare, he never lost his affinity with his native county and, indeed, trained the Dublin-based Kerry players when Mick O’Dwyer was manager of the team in the 1980s.
