Plans to heavily restrict the movement of private cars through Dublin city centre will be in place by August, Eamon Ryan has said, as he warned that the cities and towns that are unwilling to pivot towards greener transport habits will “stay stuck in this gridlock, car dependent system”.

Among the proposed restrictions include the removal of car traffic on the quays, the pedestrianisation of Parliament Street and the removal of traffic from College Green. Plans to heavily restrict the movement of private cars through Dublin city centre will be in place by August, Eamon Ryan has said, as he warned that the cities and towns that are unwilling to pivot towards greener transport habits will “stay stuck in this gridlock, car dependent system”.

The transport and climate minister was speaking after Dublin City Council submitted a feedback report regarding its transport plan, alongside a final draft of the proposals
