The Northern Lights were visible in Irish skies last night in a spectacular event which left those who caught it in total awe.

The rare appearance of the Northern Lights in Irish skies followed one of the strongest geomagnetic storms to hit Earth in years. The US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration issued an uncommon solar storm warning for the G5 level storm, which is considered extreme and is the strongest level of geomagnetic storm.
How can I see the Northern Lights? Irish weather expert Alan O'Reilly said they could be visible again tonight, but there will likely be more cloud cover - particularly in areas in the west and southwest.
