The highly anticipated Christmas Bonus payment has started to land into accounts from today, Monday 5 December. The bonus welfare payment will be made to over 1.3 million people this week, costing over €300 million.
This year, the bonus payment has been extended to people in receipt of Illness Benefit for 12 months or longer for the first time - benefiting an additional 17,500 people.How much is the Christmas Bonus? The Christmas Bonus is 100% of your normal weekly social welfare payment, for example if your normal long-term social welfare is €200 per week, the Christmas Bonus will be an additional €200 for a total weekly payment of €400.
