It is understood the 29-year-old sustained at least one stab wound when he was attacked by an assailant with a bottle at a house in the Glenwood Court estate in the town about 5.45pm. The man, who is from Carrigaline, was found on the roadway and was taken to Cork University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.
The teenager has been detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Togher Garda station
