Persistent blustery rain is set to shower down onto Ireland over the rest of the week and into the weekend as the weather starts to turn cooler.

Here is Met Éireann’s forecast for the week ahead:
A wet night tonight with widespread and occasionally heavy showers at first. Rain and drizzle in the south will spread northwards across much of the country overnight. Dry and clear to start the night. Turning cloudier overnight with rain developing over the western half of the country by morning. Quite cold with lowest temperatures of 0C to 4C with light southerly winds increasing moderate to fresh overnight.
Friday A blustery day with a mix of sunny spells and scattered showers. Some showers may be heavy with a chance of hail. Fresh and gusty northwest winds with highest temperatures of 8C to 12C.
