Weather maps show heavy downpours hitting the country from top to bottom today. The deluge has already begun and is set to move eastwards throughout the day before clearing around 9pm.The national forecaster said: “It will be rather dull and wet on Saturday with outbreaks of rain and drizzle. A little breezy too with moderate to fresh southerly winds and highest temperatures of 9C to 13C.
Meanwhile, the St Patrick’s Day weather verdict is in. While some showers are forecast, Met Eireann said there will be “dry and sunny spells” in parts on Sunday. Munster and Connacht are expected to see the best of the dry weather, while temperatures will continue mild with highs of 14C. Looking ahead to next week, unsettled weather is expected to persist with rain or showers on most days along with mild temperatures.
“Showers will continue on Tuesday, most persistent over the northern half of the country. A good deal of cloud overall but some sunny spells will break through. Mild with highest temperatures of 11C to 15C. Moderate to fresh southerly winds will veer northwesterly through the day.
