Rovers 1-0 Derry

SHAMROCK ROVERS got their title challenge back on track by puncturing Derry City’s own hopes for the second time in a month.

And they could have won by more had Brian Maher not saved a poorly executed Graham Burke penalty, while Burke later hit the side-netting with another fine chance. It’s a tighter league this year, but Rovers have been here before and know the lay of the land better than anyone. They will feel well in the hunt at this juncture.

Derry were coughing up chances at the back, but still had enough about them in attack to keep Rovers honest. It wasn’t all one way traffic. But referee Damien MacGraith played advantage, only for McJannet to chop down Kenny having recovered so well from the Clarke tussle.
